1st photos of fresh BMW X1

While it isn't intended to be brought out to the public at the Paris Motor Show on Saturday, we have pulled off to acquire a few snaps of BMW's new small 4x4.

Yet while the pics are of the show car BMW X1, they're anticipated make up close to the production version that will come up the market in 2009.

BMW has had to reveal more of the vehicle earlier than they wanted because of heavy media and public interest in the vehicle and following some teaser pictures and some patently unrealistic independent 'artists's impressions', we can state that these are the first official photos of the model.

The BMW X1 brings very much of its body's pattern elements from the other BMW X models, with other items like the recently revealed facelifted BMW 3-series' tail lamp too finding their way onto the car in addition to as some frontal influences from the 6-series coupe.

The X1's rising waistline and long, shallow sloped rear hatch hark a little to the controversial X6.
Although it as well looks like the X3 and X5 models, the X1 is closer to the Honda CR-V in terms of external dimensions.

The X1 measures 4457mm long, which is 108mm shorter than the X3 model, and its wheelbase is 2760 mm.

It's expected to have full-time all-wheel-drive and to share some componentry with the Mini Crossover which will also make an appearance at the Paris Show on Saturday.
